SAHANA FOUNDATION
Sahana Foundation is a non profit organization to use and give a Free and Open Source Software(FOSS) for disaster and emergency management. This foundation was founded in 2009 with the founder Paul Currion and Chamindra de Silva. It's located in Los Angeles, California. They served to the all worldwide.
If you ever heard a big tsunami in Indian Ocean in 2004 it attacks a lot of countries like Indonesia (mainly in Aceh), Srilanka, India, Thailand, Maldives, Somalia and other countries. My country Indonesia is the hardest hit country, I fell so sad at that time. It cause many people pass away. Okey comeback to the Sahana Foundation. After that disaster the root of Sahana Foundation is began. When the team of Lanka Software Foundation create a software that can be used for the goverment to coordinate assistance for those impacted by that disaster.

Now the ceo of Sahana is Michael Howden. Sahana has many product that are :
1. EDEN (Emergency Development ENvironment)
What is EDEN ?. Eden is a flexible humanitarian platform with a rich feature set which can be rapidly customized to adapt to existing processes and integrate with existing systems to provide effective solutions for critical humanitarian needs management either prior to or during a crisis.
Eden's feature is designed to Disaster and Emergency Management practitioners to better mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters more effectively and efficiently.

2. VESUVIUS
Vesuvius is focused on the disaster preparedness and response needs of
the medical community, contributing to family reunification and
assisting with hospital triage.
THE DEPLOYMENT
1. Resource Management System Organization : International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
This deployment is considered about allow all national societies to share information like their staff, assets, and volunteer. It's needed because Sahana will provide it to keep the data and can be needed when the time needed in the future.
2. Humanitarian Data Platform
Organization : OCHA Regional Office for the Caucasus and Central Asia
This deployment is considered about humanitarian data. This is important to check the data, to share the data, and maybe it can be needed when in the future.

WHY I WANT TAKE A PART WITH SAHANA
I think that a foundation like Sahara is needed for our future. Because a disaster may come in everytime so Sahana is important not only provide a software but also provide a materil or non materil at the disaster. I like to an IT industries and I also like become a volunteer but now i'm still study in Vocational High School so i need many time to prepare to Sahana. After i see in it's web page, Sahana has many development and project so i want to take the challenge with Sahana. And I also want to say thank you very much to Sahana that have been participated in solve Yogjakarta Earthquake - Indonesia 2006 with our goverment. Thanks Sahana Software Foundation.
